Tahoe Meadows Access Ramp

Goal: The Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation in partnership with the US Forest Service (USFS), Nevada Department of Transportation, and Tahoe Meadows Access Ramp Committee is working to install a pedestrian accessibility ramp between the north and south boardwalks in the area known as Tahoe Meadows.

Location: The Tahoe Meadows Access Ramp will be located at the Tahoe Meadows Trailhead connecting to the north and south boardwalks, east of Mount Rose Highway 431, south of Mt. Rose Summit in Washoe County, Nevada.

Community Benefits: The existing boardwalk pedestrian system, constructed over the past 10 years by the USFS, was built with stairway connections to Hwy 431. The existing stairways do not provide full accessibility to users with limited or restricted mobility, ie, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. Currently, access to the Tahoe Meadows boardwalks and associated boardwalks are connected to the roadside parking area by 2 sets of stairs located on the north and south access entrances to the Tahoe Meadows boardwalk system. The Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, USFS, and the Tahoe Meadows Access Ramp Committee propose the installation of the accessibility ramp at the roadside trailhead to provide enhanced equity of access to the boardwalks and improve the quality of the recreational experience. The improvements will support the use of the recreational facility for all users with any ability to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Tahoe Meadows.
