Historical Rephotography
The historical component is a volunteer-driven initiative that strengthens our sense of place in Truckee Meadows.
Historical photos from personal, public, and private collections are recreated by volunteer photographers to document long-term change in our parks. There are currently 22 historical and rephotographed images of parks in Truckee Meadows. These photographs have been recreated to show the effects of time, the environment, and public policy on our parks.
Contemporary Rephotography
The contemporary component is a volunteer-driven initiative where site stewards commit to taking one picture of the exact same park scene every three months. The goal is to create a continuous photographic record documenting change in our parks. Five of the site steward’s collections will be printed and displayed at the Rephotography reception event.
