General History

The park opened in 2006 as a result of the growth of the Double Diamond subdivision. The park was built by the Tanamera development company and turned over to the City of Reno.

Alongside the park is Steamboat Creek. The creek originates at Steamboat Springs to the south and runs north towards the Truckee River. During the days of silver mining, mercury was used to separate gold and silver from the ore, and today mercury can still be found in the creek, along with Washoe Lake and the Truckee River.
