Since the Great Recession (2008), the parks departments in the Reno/Sparks area have sustained massive budget, personnel, and maintenance cuts. This has resulted in the deterioration of our parks and recreation facilities. The Parks Foundation believes it is imperative that we emphasize quality of life in Truckee Meadows by investing in these vital public resources.
Our city and county representatives are currently deliberating their respective 2018-19 budget, and it is time to remind them how important parks are to our economy, health, and overall quality of life.
Individual letters are provided below for each Parks Department managed by Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County. We ask you to read and sign your respective city's letter, and urge you to do the same for Washoe County. Please take a moment to share how you use parks and why they are important to you in the additional comments box. The letters will automatically be sent to the appropriate elected representatives.
With your help, we can show how much the citizens of Truckee Meadows care about our parks.
Thank you!
