AmeriCorps and Community Service Manager

Summary

The AmeriCorps and Community Service Liaison will be essential to fostering a culture and environment that positions AmeriCorps members and volunteers for success.  This person will oversee the compliance of TMPF’s AmeriCorps State/National and AmeriCorps VISTA grants. Monitoring activities will focus on providing opportunities for improving program operations while following local, state, and federal regulations. This role is detail oriented and includes staying current on AmeriCorps regulations, as well as assisting with developing processes, resources and training materials, while working closely with each AmeriCorps Program Director.

Position Description

The position will also manage volunteers and TMPF’s volunteer programs, such as the Doggie Ambassador Project. This person will foster positive public awareness, understanding, and support of AmeriCorps and Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation through effective oversight and community engagement. This role includes recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, and keeping volunteers informed. This person will be the direct supervisor for the VISTA Leader and Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA. VISTA supervisor duties include recruiting, conducting on-site orientations and training, evaluations, project delegation, and support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • AmeriCorps Tasks:

  • Lead compliance monitoring of the federal AmeriCorps S/N and VISTA grants;

  • Conduct risk assessments and audits

  • Develop expertise in state and federal rules and regulations including 2 CFR 200s and OMB Circulars

  • Provide guidance and technical support to program directors

  • Assist in writing the AmeriCorps VISTA continuation grant application;

  • Manage and track AmeriCorps files and documents;

  • Plan and conduct AmeriCorps on-site orientations, events, and professional developments to increase the quality of the AmeriCorps member experience;

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with:

  • Nevada Volunteers and AmeriCorps regional offices;

  • AmeriCorps host sites;

  • Program partners

  • Track grant performance measures and support the preparation and submission of progress reports;

  • Prepare and submit program grant reports;

  • Oversee and manage VISTA subsites including providing orientations, training, and check ins with VISTA supervisors;

  • Assist the Development Director in securing federal and private funding to support the program;

  • Attend annual training, conferences, and webinars on AmeriCorps requirements, updates, and new policies.

  • Supervisory Tasks:

  • Oversee VISTA Leader and Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA;

  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment for AmeriCorps members through constructive feedback, professional development, and future career planning;

  • Provide 90-day, six month, and final term performance evaluations to all direct reports;

  • Assist VISTA Leader with recruiting and recruiting strategies;

  • Help professionally develop direct reports setting them up for success after AmeriCorps.

  • Volunteer Management Tasks:

  • Recruit and engage volunteers;

  • Conduct volunteer onboarding and continued training;

  • Oversee and manage the Parks Foundation’s volunteers and volunteer programs including:

  • Doggie Ambassador Project

  • Parks Project

  • Rosewood Community Science Programs

  • Direct and facilitate Parks Foundation events including:

  • Bi-annual cleanup events

  • Volunteer events

  • MiniBioBlitz event

  • Manage volunteer database and tracking;

  • Monitor volunteer satisfaction;

  • Maintain consistent communication with volunteers;

  • Work with the Community Engagement Coordinator(CEC) to operate and expand TMPF volunteer opportunities and programs;

  • Implement formal and informal volunteer appreciation program with CEC.

  • Misc. Job Functions:

  • Including but not limited to:

  • Provide support to Executive Director, staff, and AmeriCorps members as needed;

  • Lead occasional on-site programming such as walks, hikes or school programs. Training will be provided as necessary;

  • Special events throughout the year including occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years related professional experience;

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills;

  • Demonstrated success in managing programs and/or events;

  • Must pass a background check and hold a valid driver’s license;

  • Preferred: experience recruiting;

  • Preferred: reading, writing, and speaking competency in Spanish language.

  • Preferred: experience serving as, or managing AmeriCorps and/or Peace Corps members.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $45,000 annually
